A Thoughtful Step, A Record of Life’s Texture
Rather than chasing the fleeting bustle of famous landmarks, STEPLOG SEOUL is dedicated to capturing the quiet, authentic scenes found within the rhythm of everyday life.
From the warm sunlight lingering at an alley corner to the changing waters of Bulgwangcheon Stream through the seasons, and the gentle warmth rising beyond the walls of old residential neighborhoods—wherever a footstep falls (Step), we quietly archive the enduring stories of ordinary lives (Log).
For travelers seeking to pause, step back from the frantic pace of Seoul, and rediscover their own rhythm, we curate the city’s unseen layers through words and photography.
What We Document & Share
- City & Daily WalkTreading beyond the grand landmarks to uncover the quiet passage of time in Seoul’s historic alleys. With every walk along the seasonal waterways, we bring to light the small, hidden histories woven into the neighborhood.
- Local InsightFree from fleeting trends or commercial promotions, we share honest stories of neighborhood eateries and enduring shops—discovered on foot through years of living among local neighbors.
- Stay & Rest (HAPI HOUSE)A sanctuary where memories rest and weary travelers find peace. We cultivate a calm, cozy haven where visitors in an unfamiliar city can pause, breathe, and feel genuinely at home.
Behind the Log : The Historical Flâneur
Behind these records is Desmond (해명)—a resident, historical flâneur, and welcoming host who has greeted domestic and international travelers beside Bulgwangcheon Stream in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul for eight years.
Having closed a decades-long corporate career to embark on a deliberate new path, he now wanders the forgotten alleys and quiet traces of past lives, accompanied simply by his walking stick.
We value peaceful, unhurried days over lavish hospitality, and quiet, considerate support when needed over unnecessary intrusion. STEPLOG SEOUL strives to provide a warm, grounded foundation so that every journeying soul in this vast metropolis may leave behind their own meaningful footsteps.
